Volunteering and Donating

SMTC is a not-for-profit community based organisation. Together with our community, we work to keep the light of Montessori burning bright. This is truly a community effort and we rely on donations and volunteering from our community to make this effort sustainable for the long run.
We invite you to help us as part of the SMTC team by volunteering, donating, or joining events that build capacity for training, mentoring, and other support of our Montessori community across Australia.
How You Can Help
We welcome your help with volunteering, fundraising and donations. Together we can make a wider impact in our Montessori community and help Montessori to thrive in our region.
Volunteer
We run regular opportunities across the year for volunteers to come together, enjoy a morning tea and help our training centre or schools and centres within it:
- Material Making Sessions: Help create and refresh training and classroom materials, especially for satellite courses which reach new communities or classrooms.
- Odd but Essential Jobs: Assist with office and administrative tasks such as stocktakes, packing books and timelines, cataloguing archives, preparing for in-person workshops or other administrative tasks.
- Working Bees: Join 1–2 annual working bees to support projects such as creating a student garden or maintaining training spaces. If you can paint, hammer, sand, tend plants, or fix, this is for you.
- Specialist Skills: Bring expertise (design, AV, IT, carpentry, photography, regulatory, governance, finance, communications, etc.) to defined projects.
Reach out to us by email to [email protected] to find out how you can help support our efforts in Australia.
Donate
Your financial contribution is so important to enabling us to sustain and do more for our community. If you are interested in donation, we can discuss with you where you would like your financial contribution to go or you can make a general donation.
All donations are highly valued and are always applied for an important purpose that enables SMTC to be sustainable into the future. Key areas we are looking for support in current include:
- Obtaining Australian and State Government recognition and accreditation of our AMI courses
- Support trainers-in-training through to becoming AMI Trainers of the future
- Grow scholarships and bursaries for future educators
- Maintain and expand our training environments and resources (including satellite environments)
- Fund support programs for schools or centres (to fund our trainers to offer coaching, parent talks etc in schools)
- Strengthen professional development for Montessori educators
How to donate
We very much welcome financial donations but also donations of gift vouchers or points (such as Qantas or Virgin frequent flyer points or other types of points).

DONATE HEREDonation for a particular purpose or project
We also welcome a discussion with you by email to [email protected] or phoning our Managing Director, Tara Taylor on +61414408516 on how we could work together to support a particular project with your donation.
Donations of points and gift vouchers
As SMTC seeks to support our Australia wide Montessori community, our trainers and team are often travelling within Australia or from overseas to support our Australian community. Our team travels at low cost. A donation of points can make a huge saving for the training centre in managing these costs and support us to do more around Australia.
We also have a need for purchases from Woolworths/Coles (particularly for our 12-18 residential course), Book Stores, Office Works, and other consumables stores (Ikea, Big W, K Mart, Aldi and similar). If you would like to donate a gift voucher, that would also be greatly appreciated and it really helps us continue our work.
