Application procedures for the AMI Montessori Diploma courses are as follows:

Application Requirements – AMI Diploma

To help us get to know you and to understand your level of academic capabilities and how we can support you, AMI Diploma applications are requested to submit the following documents either as attachments to their online application form above or via email to SMTC at [email protected] after submissions of their application:

  • Current resume
  • copies of all tertiary transcripts in English or in translation to English (note, in some cases we may request transcripts be certificate)
  • 3 written references- two professional (employment, or academic if a recent graduate) and one personal/character. If an applicant has previously been enrolled in an AMI Certificate or Diploma course, please share a reference from your trainer’s or provide the trainer’s contact details (a trainer’s reference can count towards one of your written referees).
  • a short 2 page written statement in the applicant’s own words on why you want to undertake the AMI Diploma and what brought you to Montessori (no more than 500 words).
  • if your native language is not English, applicants are required to provide or obtain an IELTS or ISLPR assessment score (or equivalent). A minimum IELTS (or equivalent) result of 6 in each category is generally required to undertake an AMI Diploma. There are exceptions to requiring an IELTS test or your result which are determined by SMTC on a case by case basis depending on your experience of study and work in the English language. Qualification Prerequisites – AMI Diploma

  • as the courses entail academic work, participants would generally have Bachelors Degree, however we also consider other relevant qualifications and experience.
  • There is no requirement to have undertaken any previous AMI courses in order to join an AMI Diploma.

Other Requirements – AMI Diploma

  • Non residents are responsible for obtaining their own visas to enter Australia. Details regarding your visa or plan for your visa should be provided with your application or otherwise discussed with SMTC before or after you apply. For non-residents, copies of your visa grant must be provided to SMTC before the first in-person block in Australia.
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC) or equivalent in the state, territory or country in which you currently work.
  • It is an AMI requirement that all AMI Diploma students hold current AMI membership for the duration of the course. AMI membership costs €40 (Euro) for a 12 month period. SMTC collects membership fees on AMI’s behalf from students as an additional fee. 
  • A discussion with the trainer prior to confirmation of your enrolment on the course.
