AMI Montessori 6-12 Orientation Certificate
Course Description
The Association Montessori Internationale 6-12 Orientation Certificate course is designed to give an overview of the 6-12 child and a clear understanding of Montessori philosophy regarding children of this age. This course is suitable for any adult who wants to better understand the Montessori method for 6-12 year old children, including parents, grandparents and carers; teachers, student teachers, specialist teachers, classroom assistants and school administrators.

Course Requirements
- 90% attendance is required to obtain the AMI 6-12 Orientation Certificate as well as completion of all other components. For attendance to be counted, students must be visible during all online sessions and actively engage in the sessions
- Complete 9 hours of Observations, 6 of which must generally be in a Montessori 6-12 prepared environment (with alternatives by discussion where this is not available to you).
- complete an observation report;
- complete three (3) 500-word theory papers; and
- prepare handmade materials.
How to Apply
- The course is open to all adults. There are no prerequisites.
- Applicants can register online by completing the AMI 6-12 Orientation Certificate Application Form.
- Enrolment is confirmed by the training centre once the student has signed the course agreement and associated forms.
Fees
Course fees are AU $1400 plus GST (if applicable).

Special New Zealand Participant Course Fee
Are you based in New Zealand? To celebrate our first joint course with MMEF and to support increased NZ participation, we are offering a special fee of NZD $1,400 for New Zealand participants for this course only. You may also be eligible for an additional NZD $300 MANZ discount which reduces the total course fee to NZ $1100.
MANZ Discount (NZD $300)
Montessori Aotearoa New Zealand (MANZ) are offering a further NZD $300 discount (covered by MANZ on your behalf) for eligible participants of this AMI 6-12 Orientation course who:
- Live in and are based in New Zealand; and
- Are either individual member or MANZ or a school member of MANZ. School MANZ members includes parents, teachers, staff members, principals, board members of a Montessori school or centre where that school or centre is registered with MANZ.
Eligible NZ participants who can access the MANZ discount will be invoiced at a highly discounted fee of NZD $1,100.

Qualification Authorising Body
The Certificate is awarded by the Association Montessori Internationale and does not form part of the Australian Qualifications Framework (or NZ equivalent).
AMI is a worldwide leader in Montessori education. Its certified training is acknowledged for its rigour and authenticity and the Certificate is internationally recognised.
The Certificate does not automatically qualify the holder to educate as a teacher’s aide or assistant in other educational settings. The state or country in which the Certificate holder wishes to work may have other requirements that must be fulfilled.

Course Outline and Completion Requirements
The AMI Montessori 6-12 Orientation Certificate is awarded to those who complete all the following requirements. You must;
- maintain a minimum 90% attendance (your camera must be on and you need to be visible to the instructor to qualify as being in attendance);
- complete nine (9) hours of observation of children aged 6 to 12 years; (6 hours within a Montessori Prepared Environment).
- complete an observation report;
- complete three (3) short 500-word papers; and
- prepare handmade materials.
