Association Montessori Internationale
Founded by Dr Maria Montessori in 1929, Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) continues her mission to support the natural development of the human being. AMI connects educators, families, and training centres around the world in a shared commitment to uphold authentic Montessori practice and to build a more peaceful, just world through education.
AMI’s mission is to support the natural development of the human being from birth to maturity, enabling children to become the transforming elements of society, leading to a harmonious and peaceful world.
AMI training courses are renowned for their depth and their commitment to a full and practical understanding of the Montessori approach. Each course is guided by AMI Trainers — highly experienced Montessori educators who have undertaken AMI’s rigorous Trainer of Trainers program, over many years, to develop deep and extensive expertise in Montessori pedagogy and in supporting adults to understand and integrate the approach.
AMI’s international pedagogical groups, comprised of experienced AMI Trainers, continually reflect on and refine the development of courses and course content so that they remain relevant for their time, while staying true to AMI’s role as custodian of Maria Montessori’s legacy.
AMI is recognised internationally as an authoritative voice on the unique nature of childhood, natural human development, and the rights of the child — and as a broader mission, to support peace through the child.
